About Us
- Russell’s Pharmacy & Shoppe is an independent pharmacy located in the historic business district of Old East Durham at 2116 Angier Avenue, Durham, NC 27703. We are a full-service pharmacy that offers prescription medications, immunizations, comprehensive medication reviews/medication therapy management services, in-depth health counseling, over the counter (OTC) medicines and non-prescription products.
Owners Darius and Terensia Russell, along with partners, primary goal at Russell’s Pharmacy & Shoppe is to provide the best and most complete pharmaceutical care possible to all our patients. We provide this excellent pharmaceutical care through counseling, medication therapy management, and individual attention given to each patient who enters the pharmacy. We have friendly and knowledgeable staff who will help to make you feel welcomed and cared for.
Our pharmacy’s design provides an old-fashioned feel with our open space, a tasty, but limited, cuisine to customers in a self-serve manner that include many healthy choices. We also have different variations of nostalgic candies that our customers may remember from their childhood. Russell’s Pharmacy & Shoppe offers free Wi-Fi and seating.
We are excited to part a part of a large-scale real estate development project in the heart of East Durham’s historic business district: the Angier Business & Children’s Center (“ABC Center”).
Self Help Ventures Fund, a subsidiary of the Self Help Credit Union, a non-profit community development lender along with the City of Durham grant has undertaken this $10.2 million project.
Our location, 2116 Angier Ave. Durham, NC was once a former Wachovia branch bank.
Meet Our Pharmacy Family
Dr. Darius Russell, PharmD
Darius Russell, a 2006 graduate of UNC School of Pharmacy, manages the pharmacy and has considerable experience with counseling, immunizations, and clinical experience in medication therapy management.
Terensia Russell
Terensia, a graduate of UNC-CH, not only acts as part owner, but also manages the front-end and works as a Pharmacy Technician.
Joyce Hamlett
Joyce, a retired employee of UNC-CH working with Office of Human Research Ethics, brings to the pharmacy a wealth of experience, knowledge and wonderful customer service.
Leon Hamlett
Leon, a retired employee of UNC-CH working as an Application Analyst in the Office of the University Registrar, brings his technical skills as well as customer service.
